The Freedom Diaries

The night was near and the air was still.
It felt like time had stopped for one moment apart from the last light of the sun bursting through the clouds, holding onto its opportunity to the very end of the day.
I felt inspired and connected as my eyes were in a trance by the suns last hit of light.
Something so beautiful can be so comforting.

This is a different style to my usual super detailed work, but since the beginning of my obsession with painting I have always loved to paint clouds,
This piece is painted from a time when I was living in New Zealand, I stopped on the side of the road and took this beautiful photo of the clouds bursting with light above the ocean, the evening was warm balmy and I felt like I had the whole world to myself for one moment I felt so calm and free while my thoughts dripped away and I was surrounded by this beautiful sunset.
So about 15 years later I finally had the chance to paint one of my favourite memories.

I call this style my Lishi Lou Series, Like my alter ego Lishi Lou is a bit more wild he he.
I loved painting this and I am hoping to do more in the future.

This piece is already sold to a private collector.
